Weekly Spelling Words and Math Homework Students are given a weekly homework folder on Fridays that includes a weekly cover letter explaining the week's assignments, a spelling word list, and homework sheets to be completed. All homework should be completed by the following Friday.
Sight Word Boxes... Simple Steps to Sight Word Success! 1. Spend 10 minutes each night reviewing the words. 2. Make it a fun time by coming up with creative ways to practice (funny voices, silly games, i.e.) 3. Don't give up! They will get the words if you keep practicing. 4. Do not show frustration which causes your child to become frustrated with the words.
Library Books... Accelerated Reader Please help your child read atleast 2 AR books each week to test on at school. This will help them meet their AR goal of 4 books a week. (We will read and test on 2 at school). Remember, meeting/not meeting your weekly AR goal is a part of the reading grade average.
Math Fact Boxes Math facts are similar to the sight words in that the student will review the cards in their box and return them to school once mastery has occured. Mastery is reading the problem orally and calling out the answer within 3 seconds. Students work on math facts at their own pace. Like the sight words, once students master one set they move to the next set of cards.
